Hey, guys I have recently seen on all my Xiaomi phones that my Google Chrome homepage was changed to a site named “Mintnav”, be careful to change it, I didn’t find any documentation about this site so I think it’s a scam (a thing that I found to many time made by Xiaomi)
Several individuals on Twitter/X voiced their complaints after reading the news, with one even mentioning India’s Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology.
We struggled to find full details on this alleged malware when we tried to learn more about it. According to a tutorial website called How to remove Guide, “Mintnav falls into the category of browser hijacker applications, and although it may not inflict significant direct harm, it can certainly be a source of considerable annoyance and disruption to your daily web browsing activities.
Although customers’ worries are legitimate, it is unclear how this unidentified malware got onto Xiaomi phones. Users of other brands haven’t expressed any issues with Mintnav, therefore Xiaomi may be engaged in some way. It’s possible that this purported spyware first surfaced on Xiaomi cellphones following an upgrade.
By navigating to the “Homepage” setting in Chrome’s settings and either deactivating the option or switching to Chrome’s default homepage, you can get rid of this malware if it has infected your browser.
What Is Mintnav Malware
Customers who purchase smartphones from Xiaomi are the subject of controversy. That is, it’s claimed that the malware Mintnav, which can compromise Chrome, is installed on these Xiaomi smartphones.
Furthermore, it is unknown how the cellphones were impacted by this infection. “Guys, I have noticed that Google Chrome on all my Xiaomi smartphones has changed its homepage to Mintnav,” wrote a user on Reddit.
If you see this term, use caution. It appears to be a con. However, I am not aware of any supporting material. I’ve observed this sort of fraud in Xiaomi phones,” he had written in his post.
Xiaomi users were drawn to this message because of its attention. Additionally, the Indian Minister of Electronics and Information Technology was tagged on Twitter X.
